I'm absolutely stunned, i was just doing a search for friends i made in Iquitos and came across this news. My heartfelt condolences go out to all his family and friends.Wally was the true gent of Iquitos , I never heard him say a bad word about anyone. He was a proud Father and Grandfather and when i was leaving Iquitos around the Christmas of 2006 he asked that i post his Christmas cards for him (The year his cards came with a post-mark from Guildford Surrey).I was planning another trip to Iquitos and wanted to search Wally to ask him if he wanted any Marmite bringing over and stumbled upon this site, it's been a long time since I'd seen him but the news has hit me like it was yesterday that we'd talk all night over a few beers about any subject at all (as Wally was as knowledgeable as he was good company).
Rest in Peace dear friend.

I remember meeting Wally once when he talked to us for one hour about bbq' ing a chicken and a little cover he had made over the exhaust pipe. He seemed a kind gentle guy and a font of useful information. RIP amigo

So saddened to hear this tragic news.My memories will be of a cheerful, happy go lucky guy who would always come in off the 18th green with a smile ,regardless of how well or badly he played, a pleasure to know and serve.A talented photographer whose remarkable work will be a lasting tribute to him , I will treasure those he kindly sent to me .My sincere condolences go to his family and many friends by whom I know he will be greatly missed.

What a sad and tragic loss. Though my wife Chris and I only met Wally a few times on our visits to Iquitos to see our son Jimmy, the impression we formed was that he was a kind and gentle man who wouldn't harm a fly. May we offer our deepest sympathies to his family and condolences to his many friends.
